THE EYE OF NIGHT (photomorph) & HOW I SEE IT (dream narrative) by Roswila
HOW I SEE IT
the surf lopes lazily in the bright
sunlight, like the miniature horses
that cross the beach's edge; from
where I lie on a small grassy dune
not even yards from the sea I watch
this preserve's caretaker playfully
chase a miniature male lion, who
glows golden in the sun, clearly
in a game of catch-me-if-you-can
that they've played many times;
as the little lion with the caretaker
not far behind leaves my view, one
of the miniature horses, no more
than a foot long, prances up to the
edge of the dune, and pauses, nay,
poses gracefully, the day's bright
light turning his coat and long mane
and tail a lustrous red-gold; I yearn
to pet him all over, this proud, little
horse with his tempting conformation;
but though I could just reach him by
stretching out and over a bit from
my belly down perch on the grassy
dune, I somehow know it would
not be welcome: his beauty's
for my eyes only

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
