SHINING THROUGH (photo) & "the sun shining through ..." (haiku) by Roswila

the sun shining through
a slice of lemon meringue pie
her surprised laughter

[In fond memory of Helen Fredlund, who passed away on March 1st. She was in her mid-90’s and I’d had the delight to be her friend for the 12 years I’ve been living here. The “her” in this haiku was Helen.
“No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in this world die away...” Author unknown. Photo "Shining Through" (Screenshots 3, 10-15-19[30]) by Roswila]

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

"Come on Baby, Let's Do the Twist" (photo) & "they've chopped down ..." (dream haiku pair) by Roswila

they’ve chopped down
the oracular tree! (but, shhh,
it’s not the real one …

the true psychic tree
still stands in a wide stream,
haven of the wild)

[dream haiku pair, dreamed/written/posted October 2006. This pair has been heavily tweaked for this posting. I’d always liked the dream but never been all that happy with the writing. As it stands (pun intended) now, it more accurately reflects the experience of the dream. And as I’ve said here before, yes, I do often recall old dreams. Especially after reading some poem or other I’ve written about them. (I came across a dream haiku I wrote several years back on a dream that was 40 years old.) BTW, this pair is another from that review of my ancient, handwritten, dream haiku note books. Photo “Come on Baby, Let’s Do the Twist” (Screenshots-many 1-25-19[7]) by Roswila]

BOXED IN (photomorph) & "one man, swears rescue ..." (dream haiku) by Roswila

one man, swears rescue
another, threatens rape
a priest, demands pay

[dream haiku, dreamed/written Feb. 2007, re-posted today. I did some tweaking to bring it closer to the dream I recall; yes, I still recall it; some dreams are very "sticky". It's another of those from the review I was doing a while back of my ancient handwritten dream haiku notebooks. This ‘ku clearly carries on with the mood of my previous two re-postings (see immediately below). Photomorph “Boxed In” (6-28-09 2988v10[2]) by Roswila]

ONLY THE WIND EVER VISITS (photo) & "he feels rejected ..." (dream haiku) by Roswila

he feels rejected
she leaves me when she pleases
I can’t win

[dream haiku, dreamed/posted late January 2008 (only a couple weeks before I moved here from New York City to CA). I just went plowing through some of my blog’s really old posts and this one popped out at me. It could be read as the life-long consequences of the old dream haiku I re-posted here on Leap Day.
