NOTICE OF POSSIBLE BLOG POST HIATUS

This may wind up to be an unnecessary post.
But have decided to make it, just in case.
For if it is needed, I won't have to rush
around to find a computer with an internet
connection with which to make this post.

OK, enough mystery, ey? It's about what is
probably a simple thing to most people. But
unfortunately it's not to me. I've been given
the great gift (by a bunch of friends) for this
holiday season: a new computer set up. And
not only will it involve a lot of re-arranging
of my desk space (and by extension, the rest
of my rooms' organization), but I'll have to do
things like learn how to use Windows 10,
make decisions on what photo editor program
to put on it, and so on. I'm also one of those
worriers who can imagine just about any sort
of thing going wrong (and it's usually what
I don't imagine that does go off the rails!)
And I hate to pull the arthritic old lady card,
but that is also operable here. There will be
lots of lifting, bending, and reaching in-
volved in the initial set-up. (I won't be
totally bereft of help, but the operative word
there is help: I always prefer to do
as much myself as I can manage.)

All this is by way of saying I may not be
making any posts here for several days
(and I certainly hope not any longer than
that). And as before when I've not posted
here for a while, you could just enjoy the
silence (:-D) or wander through earlier posts
here. The archives list on the right side
of this home page goes back to 2006.

I also doubt I'll be in email touch, either, if I
do enforce "radio silence." :-) But, please
do email or leave comments here anyway.
I'll respond as soon as possible.

TICKLED PINK (photo) & TICKLED BREATHLESS (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

TICKLED BREATHLESS

she walks slowly and totally alone around
the low lit museum that's locked down
for the night; here and there, she's hauled up
short by a picture's nearly otherworldly beauty:
she's heard it said that the desire to create art
like this is more about competition than what
we understand to be inspiration: this craving
to stand before something one has tortured
or spun or carved into form and feel this same
sort of wonder and delight in discovery; but
she mustn't be a very good competitor as none
of her own artistic endeavors have even lightly
tickled her fancy in way too long; maybe that's
why she's chosen instead to wander this museum,
filled as it is with an exceptional trove of others'
art that's survived over the centuries; for she
knows from long experience that here she'll be,
at the very least, tickled breathless

[free verse poem on a dream of 12-15-18 -- and many others over the years I vaguely recall that echo the same setting of wandering a night-time museum totally alone. And this is the truth of it now: I've begun to believe that whatever talent and skills I may have had as an artist peaked years -- maybe decades ago -- and are slowly declining. And now it's all over but the crying, as they say. Well, at least my frustrating creative efforts are managing to keep this getting older mind busy, and even sometimes, despite it all, rather amused. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
