HONEY GLAZE (photo) & HONEY (dream tanka series) by Roswila

HONEY

setting up for bees …
again … it should seem rather odd
after all this time
but it doesn’t, and she hasn’t even
figured out why she wants to do so

ah, she thinks, as she
lets the bees loose, the old bird cage she
housed them in before
will suffice nicely -- they’ll fly right into
the lockable cage once the vine’s hung in it

she throws away a
lot of the old cutesy cage furniture to
focus on the vine,
that long leafy line that was strung inside
the cage, giving the bees their natural food

it’s quite a challenge
to get it hung properly again so it
will not only grow
lushly, but be accessible to the
hungry crowd of bees that will arrive

yep, who’s actually
the busier of the bees beginning to
buzz all around here?
she’d forgotten how much is involved
in keeping honey makers satisfied

[tanka series on a dream of 3-8-20. I’ve been incubating dreams (asking things of my dreams as I go to sleep) for several nights now and have not felt the response(s) to be all that helpful (or understandable in some instances). Though it took me quite a while to get at what this dream above is saying, it is a response to last night’s incubation request. A surprising one, that I initially misinterpreted to be about someone else. But it’s about me. Very simply put, a challenge to “sweeten up.” There’s much more to it than this, as bees are a multi-level symbol. However, it’s chock full just carrying that “sweeten up” message to cranky and getting more and more bitter, me.

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant or contrasting aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
