YOUR BRAIN ON DESIRE (photo) & A GOOD-BYE TO REMEMBER (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

A GOOD-BYE TO REMEMBER

my desire for him
has only grown stronger,
though I've finally
accepted that this deeply magnetic
man's not for me to hook up with

after all it would be
cheating on my significant
other to do so,
yet now that I learn this sexy man's
dying I wonder if I might bed him,

once, and once only, a loving good-bye
to remember: would that be cheating?

[two tanka and one two-liner on a dream of 1-1-17. BWL! (Big Wry Laugh) Some part of me just won't give up, will it? It'll find a way to have what it wants. Even creating such an ultimately sad scenario. Of course, there are also a variety of psychological implications to this I won't go into. This may sound strange, but there's also a sort of wishful and vague "Beauty and the Beast" tale implied here. I.e., would loving him, "save" him? There's a line in a song: "Say something, I'm giving up on you, sorry that I couldn't get to you." A line that haunts me these days. And that goes back to one aspect of those psychological implications I mentioned. (OK, so's not to be so mysterious, one of those implications: I tend to feel overly responsible for everyone and everything. Which, on it's flipside, implies one is more powerful, if you will, than is at all realistic.) So it's one of those jam packed little dreams. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
