INCORPORATION (photomorph) & THE AGREEMENT (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

THE AGREEMENT

the door to the space isn’t locked, but what I want
to get at is locked away in a small container
that I pick up and examine carefully from all angles;
it pops open suddenly when I hold and touch it in
a particular way, cool! for once I’m getting what
I want, which oddly enough in this instance is simply
occasional access not full-time possession; just as I
begin to relax into this new situation, a strange guy
and a long-standing female frenemy of mine approach
me, he proclaiming that the box (now a pearlescent
pink) will remain accessible to me for this weekend
only, after that my frenemy (whom he, of course,
refers to by her actual name) will want it back;
she nods agreement, but mutters something as she
takes the box from me and looks it over as if not
at all certain that this give and take is an
agreement she’s willing to forge between us

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

BLOW MY MIND, WHY DON'T CHA!?! (photomorph) & TRUMP THIS...PUH-LEEZE!!! (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

TRUMP THIS … PUH-LEEZE!!!

… well, I can’t even put pen to paper to write notes
about this dream without my waking mind reacting
super-intensely to it, so I’ll let morning mind have
its say first = W.T.F.!?!?, OK, that said, on to
the dream itself: I’m POTUS’s new private
secretary, unsure as yet of my duties but already
aware one of them is to be occasionally available
sexually: ACK!!! (my waking response inter-
poses itself again) him!! of all people!! I
then return to recording the dream, but it’s too
late to get any more details, my waking disgust
has wiped out any further recall … sigh … would
that this were the case with wiping out the mushy
dream memory of POTUS briefly on top of me …
would that I could find meaning in, or at the
very least, do something creative with this icky
image stuck in my brain: but most of all,
would that there were some way
to flat-out trump it!

[free verse poem on a dream of 12-10-19. This is the one I mentioned in my comments to yesterday’s poem post. In my defense (LOL), I do have dreams about our POTUS’s, usually when they’re in office. But Clinton was a dream favorite for some years after he left office. My dreams cast Clinton as either my lover or good friend. My Obama dreams were strange, one had a cool dinosaur in it, though. And I was not overly fond of Reagan, but he showed up not many years ago in a friendly capacity. The obvious “meaning” at one level of my President dreams is that the man represents some powerful, controlling factor in my life at the time. And addresses my relationship to it, in some fashion. It’ll be very interesting to see how that plays out when we finally do have a female President. Photomorph “Blow My Mind, Why Don’t Cha!?” (6-22-09 2656v9) by Roswila]

SKY BONES (photomorph) & BONE DEEP (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

BONE DEEP

to get above it all for a better view, to be able
to see more quickly (ironically, what I already
intuit is around me), I’m given an incredibly
tall skeleton set of legs with hip bones; so tall,
in fact, I wonder how I’ll be able to use these
dead props as one would a pair of crutches
(which is the only way I can imagine using
them), or maybe, they’re meant to somehow
to be walked in like a freakish pair of stilts;
before I can ask my question, I’m summarily
told that I must undergo surgery in which
these dry, giraffe-like leg bones capped by
hips that look like huge, empty, pasty white
palms, will replace my aging, if natural, much
shorter pair of leg/hip bones; “nuh-uh!!”
instantly escapes my mouth, and I quickly
add that that is simply going way too far just
on the promise of a more readily obtainable
and comprehensive view of things…thanks,
but no thanks, I’ll hobble along as I have
been, learning how best to piece together
living, bone deep understandings
from the view
down here

[free verse poem on a dream of 12-11-19. This dream was in part a prodromal one: i.e., one’s body trying to tell one’s self something via the dream. In this case, the prodromal element was precipitated by joint pain from toes to hips. I’d slept much longer in one position than I ever do and, boy how-dee, did I hurt on waking and changing position. As I creaked and moaned, I also recalled the dream. Which does have much more to it than a message about the need to wake up and change sleep position. BTW, I have another dream/poem from 12-10 that had our POTUS, Trump in it, ICK! Dag it, that man is everywhere one looks in the media. My dreams, also? Actually, I have a good idea who and what he represented. But, still, Trump?! I hasten to add I see a connection between the Trump dream and today’s. A response, of sorts. Photomorph “Sky Bones” (1-18-17 003v2b) by Roswila]

CLEARING A PATH (photomorph) & ON APPROACHING MY 76th BIRTHDAY (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

ON APPROACHING MY 76th BIRTHDAY

a tall, lidded garbage can and my old, rebuilt
vacuum stand (the first full, and the second
ready but for a dust cup emptying) like two
old friends, well, not friends, more like hoary
acquaintances who’d rather not be left together
like this, in a corner of my bedroom

so, this is what my life’s come down to, all I
have to look forward to on waking: coping with
chores that threaten to overwhelm my arthritic
joints and vertiginous mind, not to mention my
empty soul, that like a garbage can or vacuum
is now only a way station for remainders, for
broken bits and pieces, and the constantly
collecting lint of an unraveling life

[non-dream free verse poem written 12-10-19. My apologies for the self-pity in this, but it is where I’m at way too often these days. The poem was the result of feeling really nauseous and sitting down hurriedly on my bed before even attempting to make it. When I finally raised my head the first things I saw were the garbage can and vacuum. And I groaned. Hell, I’d just had to sit before even making my bed! More chores to be done?! So, I grabbed for the note pad I keep next to my bed (for dreams and anything else I don’t want to forget before morning) and began scribbling. As I did, I realized I’d not used this as a poem-producing trick in a long time: look around a space I’m in and pick an actual object to describe and see where it takes me. Not surprised these two old acquaintances took me down the path to self-pity. And it’s hours later as I keyboard all this. I’m feeling no better and don’t have much hope of improving. BTW, my 76th b’day is in less than a month. Photomorph “Clearing a Path” (7-5-09 3229e.v2d[3]) by Roswila]
