AS IF IT WERE NOTHING
as pissed as I am at her for those snarky comments
of hers about me that I overheard, and her
sugar-wouldn't- melt-in-her-mouth
sweetness to my face, I'm still
delighted to hear she's pregnant
(at least someone's getting
what they want around
here!) she sure doesn't
look at all enceinte, I say,
but the others quickly respond
that she's due any day now, and I wonder
sadly (and not for the first time) at what too many
women carry around with them as if it were nothing
[free verse poem on a dream of 2-5-18. This is one of those I'm rather uncertain about. Whether the transition from being pissed to empathy makes any sort of sense. I am sort of content with the formatting of the lines, though. It was great fun getting them that way to reflect the idea of pregnant bellies "as if [they] were nothing." The more I'm getting into shaping poems visually, the more I find myself regretting the use of long words, though ....LOL. When they come up where I want to end a line they're frequently just way too long! And I'll admit to occasionally finding other, smaller words that will do just as well, so I can make the shape I'm aiming for. Ah, well, keeps the old brain cells popping, if nothing else. There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
