THE ESSENTIAL WOUND (photomorph) & WHAT THE BLAZES (mixed format dream writing) by Roswila

WHAT THE BLAZES

Dad! what the blazes
are you doing here, in this dream?
it's populated
entirely by women (I'd say it's
estrogen heavy only we're all seniors)

and I really don't
feel very welcoming of you
right now, even though
we fought our ways through to
healing between us long ago

but tonight I'm hurt
and when I'm hurt I get angry:
for the first time I
realize just how deep and thorough-
going the wounds you caused were

the roadways of scars
hang in front of my eyes, stretched thin
enough to see straight
through them to each knot and crash,
each failure and inhibiting fear beneath:

your abusive acts not only wounded back then,
but have run, nay, all but ruined my life since

so forgive me if my full attention is demanded
elsewhere as I absorb what I've been denying

stay in purgatory for a while, until I'm able
to invite you into the sun of friendship again

[4 tankas and three two-liners on a dream of 4-27-18. Yeah, bit of self-pity here, but it is the truth of it. And it will pass. Hell, I've already done the lion's share of the healing work anyway, just to get this far. Piece of cake to clean up the rest. Well, a bit of an exaggeration that statement. However, as hard as it is, it's still doable. Won't have it any other way. Photomorph "The Essential Wound" (10-7-15 005v3e) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

BUTTERFLY NEBULOUS (photomorph) & "we transmute..." (dreamku) by Roswila

we transmute
into fairy-like slaves
I discover flight

[dreamku from January 1, 2007. Been a long time since I've posted a dreamku. (Dreamku is a haiku-like form I developed for night dreams -- there's a slew of them here in the earlier years ... used to write one or more daily -- try searching for dreamku if you're interested.) I have nothing ready to post and so decided to just click at random on my archive list of posts (see right hand column, this page). When I hit on this one I was instantly ready to go with it: I've been wondering about dealing with transmutations/
transmogrifications in ourselves and whether we have to simply accept them, as is. I.e, in terms of the dreamku's image, be a slave to them. Well, I've never given in utterly and am not about to now. Anymore than I did in this old dream/ku. Of course, what wings I may discover this time remain to be seen. (BTW, get the idea of angel's wings outta the picture. Even if this old woman were ready for those, they ain't gonna be comin' her way. And that's only partly a joke.) Photomorph "Butterfly Nebulous" (9-5-13 009v3t) by Roswila]

ABOUT DREAMKU (& PHOTOS):

But first, a request: please let me know of any typos or other sorts of blunders in my posts. As my eyes age I'm finding more mistakes are creeping into what I put up here no matter how many times I proof it all. Thanks for any help!

For more in-depth exploration of the dreamku form, and one post in which I also address my photo choices:

-- very brief comparison of dreamku and haiku: DREAMKU ARE NOT HAIKU

-- a brief post about both dreamku and my photos THE AREN'TS OF DREAMKU & ACCOMPANYING DIGITAL PHOTOS.

-- detailed three-part post about dreamku: "A DREAMKU PRIMER: Writing Haiku-Like Poems About Your Night Dreams": PART ONE: Introduction & Writing Dreamku as Dream Work; PART TWO: Elements of the Haiku Form Used in Dreamku; and PART THREE: How to Write Dreamku (the second and third parts have some overlap).

-- a short up-dating post about the three-part "A DREAMKU PRIMER" -- Important Up-date to A DREAMKU PRIMER....".
