WAITING TO BE FILLED (photomorph) & "pregnant to bursting ..." (non-dream haiku) by Roswila

pregnant to bursting
without any visual proof:
month of no full moon

[non-dream haiku, written 2-23-18. Two full moons in January and two full in March this year, though. :-) Photo "Waiting to be Filled" (12-30-17 009v12b) by Roswila]

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,

YOUR BRAIN ON DRUGS (photomorph) & SWEET DESTRUCTION (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

SWEET DESTRUCTION

my apologies to your ego, man,
however, I now know it's not you
I keep yearning after so painfully,
but it's simply (and not so
simply) that deeply sad-sweet
feeling itself that I crave

okay, let me try again to make
myself clear: it's that frustrated
yearning that runs through like a
sugary, shivery river when I think
of still not (and probably never)
having you, that melting as of
neapolitan ice cream into every
vein, down every channel into
the farthest reaches of my body

yeah, this is what I keep hankering
after -- nay, call a spade a spade:
what I'm addicted to --

this thrilling to the repeated rapid
melting that rises beyond any
containment I might manage did
it not wash away everything else
crowding my world for those few
seconds it flashes in every vein,
expanding my heart's limits
like a flooded river's banks,
stranding surprises of seeds
and broken bits everywhere
as it quickly recedes:

and it's entirely up to me what I
create out of this debris, just
as it's a choice whether I want to
go on flinging the floodgates wide
to this sweet destruction that has
very little to do with you, my man

WISTFUL AFTERNOON (photo) & "how sad this beauty..." (non-dream haiku) by Roswila

how sad this beauty,
slicing like a myriad
of tiny paper cuts

[non-dream (kinda, sorta) haiku, written 2-20-18. I say "kinda, sorta" haiku as it's all one sentence and about a personal inner response. Although neither are total "no-no's" within the parameters I attempt to adhere to in writing haiku, I do much prefer it when I can hew to two separate sections in a 'ku and to it being rather more than less "objective" in tone. Oh, and I forgot to mention, similes/metaphors are pretty much frowned upon in haiku. Though one does run across them in translations of the Japanese Masters. However, I've always wondered if they are explicit in the original Japanese, or have been introduced in the English translations. Photo "Wistful Afternoon" (11-2-17 023v2) by Roswila]

WAY DOWN UPON THE STREAM (photomorph) & "waddling together ... " (non-dream haiku) by Roswila

waddling together
through dappled stream-side shadows
a pair of ducks and I

IS THIS ANY CLEARER? (photomorph) & A POST VALENTINE'S DAY WISH FULFILLMENT DREAM (prose poem on a dream) by Roswila

A POST VALENTINE'S DAY WISH FULFILLMENT DREAM

her dearest two female friends gather close to her,
anxious to help her not only understand her nigh on
to indefinable physical and emotional relationship
with that man, but how to be in it; they pay special
attention to interpreting what certain actions and
joking statements of his actually mean; as these
two women friends converse with her, it becomes
clear the man must truly care in the way he claims
to; she doesn't know if she's more surprised or
pleased and decides the blend of the two reactions
is just fine, a delicious high calorie boost after this
lengthy abstemious time in her life; then a male
friend approaches her, telling her of his recent win
in the same arena of life, his first in as many years as
she'd just gone without; he, too, translates for her
-- in a positive way -- the odd words and awkward
phrases of the man she's involved with, along with
his even odder behaviors; it seems Valentine's Day
has hit the ground running and is not stopping, she
thinks, laughing at the mental image of her arthritic
knees allowing her to go the distance with anyone,
even as she gives thanks for her strong, persistent
heart that's never given up

[prose poem (narrative?) on a dream of 2-15-18. Yup ... unclarity is so anxiety provoking for me that I made up a bunch of reassuring friends! Photomorph "Is This Any Clearer?" (11-2-17 011v9c) by Roswila]
