TIME ROLLS ON (photomorph) & THE ROSY RACER (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

THE ROSY RACER

the racing wrist watch
with the rose-pink band’s in first place,
four grey ones follow
it’s a close race: if they had noses the five
would be nose-to-tail the entire way

the dream’s aerial view leaves no doubt of which one’s
going to cross the finish line first in just a few seconds

then there’s a sudden
scramble and, as the rules of the game require,
they reverse their order

this is to assure
a “level playing field,” but this goes over the top
in being PC

isn’t the point of a race to let the cream rise?
not mix it all up again in the milk when it does?

[mix of 1 tanka, 2 dreamku, and 2 two-liners on a dream of 6-7-19. This little dream speaks at another level, as well, beyond the one in the closing two lines. That it’s wrist watches: time is racing. (Tempus fugit, ey?) And though not thought about by my dreaming “I” as I was dreaming, I may very well want the order of the racers reversed. As, writing this, I identify with that rosy racer and don’t particularly want to rush across the finish line yet, if you will. And there’s even a third level in which that rosy colored wrist watch represents my concern for someone I actually know. Sheesh! Never woulda thunk it, that this dream would yield so much. I almost didn’t scribble down notes on it, feeling a bit more than usually overwhelmed by my morning. Glad I did, though. Beyond the dream’s specifics, it’s a good reminder of how complicated our lives are, how we live (and interpret our living), at so many differing levels at once. There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

NO SWIMMING (photo) & POOLSIDE (non-dream mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

POOLSIDE

an ersatz peace, but
no less welcome, this slippage
of each memory
through a moment’s frame
like an ancient silent movie

with thoughts as captions, they flicker on
behind the sight of sunlight on the still pool
