THE EMERGENCE OF TEAL (photomorph) & A DIFFERENT KETTLE OF FISH (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila
A DIFFERENT KETTLE OF FISH
... and so she spends
all night working on and re-working
her birthday cards for
that mother/daughter pair out of
the past that she yearns to please
the wordy card text
almost writes and formats itself,
but the card designs
are a completely different
kettle of very unsettled fish
her drawings leaping
wildly from her frantic pen
into nothingness,
then a sketch for the mother's card lands,
resting in its allotted space on the page
it even allows its
vertical shapes to take on color,
a lovely teal blue,
followed by iridescence: ah, she
muses, will the daughter's match
and a basic draft
for the daughter's card flaps down
to the right of her
mother's, though still a bit vague
it's clearly related to the teal sketch
yes! she can enjoy
the rest of the designing process,
she thinks, since at last
her ongoing efforts have been
anchored in the here and now

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
