PINK LADIES (photo) & DOLLY SAYS (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
DOLLY SAYS
to our surprise, Dolly Parton and a young
woman she's just met have sung beautifully
together, the harmonies they achieved
woven as neatly and smoothly as silk
at Dolly's urging the new singing duo
decides to stay where they are, and when they
undress for the night they hang their bright pink
bras, side by side, on an empty towel rack
another woman enters the bathroom, and Dolly
mumbles something in a grumpy way about
more people living here than she'd thought,
and quickly reaches for her bra to leave
her new singing partner starts to follow suit,
but Dolly suddenly drapes her bra back over
the rack, aligning it neatly with her friend's
saying: wherever you hang your bra is home
[free verse poem on a dream of 8-19-16. Don't ask me, I don't know! I have a s--t load of associations piled up for this so it's clearly a highly condensed dream. I keep thinking of a computer zip file. In terms of an immediate emotional reaction, I'm curious to "unzip" it later when I have time, as I went to sleep in an horrendous state and it seems to be an uplifting dream. If you'll pardon that probably very relevant pun. Photo "Pink Ladies" (7-28-12 121023v3) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
