EN LA LUZ DE LA LUNA (photomorph) & ST. PATRICKS' DAY 2020 (writing) by Roswila
ST. PATRICK’S DAY 2020
yeah, it’s a fine St. Patrick’s Day, this one, six degrees
… no, make that 6 feet of separation (or more) …
between each Irishman or any other humans, for that matter
with Covid19* on the march, stealthy and stone sober,
there’s only danger in silly parades or in raising a pint
(or two, or three) in crowded, music lathered bars
I keep recalling what I saw from a third story hotel window
that summer when I was twelve and unable to sleep,
a combination of anxiety and intense charley horses
knotting me up:
a listing drunk, the moonlight his only company as he
marched sloppily alone down the middle of the hushed
and totally empty boulevard, singing boldly off-key,
as he somehow managed to keep the make shift flag
of his shirt atop the stick he waved through
the chilly night air
a parade all to himself,
or was it a surrender

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
