TAIGA: Response to One Single Impression Prompt of 6/29/08

The prompt this week at ONE SINGLE IMPRESSION is “Doorway.” The above taiga (illustrated tanka) is The Empress (III) from my work-in-progress, The Taiga Tarot. In Tarot the cards are sometimes corresponded to letters from the Hebrew alphabet. The usual letter associated with The Empress is “Daleth,” which in noun form means “door.” I’ve always found that highly appropriate for the archetypal mother card, as our mother is our doorway into this life. I also tend to see The Great Goddess in The Empress, so “doorway" is certainly appropriate in this respect, too. (Please note that the information below the card design above speaks to the dream it was inspired by, and that the taiga I am designing for the Taiga Tarot are rather non-traditional.)

TAIGA: Response to One Deep Breath Prompt of 10-07-07

The prompt this week at One Deep Breath is “simple pleasures.” I can think of nothing more pleasurable or ultimately more simple than being fully in the moment, something I nevertheless find hard to do. The past agitates and the future rains fear. But every once in a while? A moment like the one above that I speak to in The Hanged Man taiga.

ANNOUNCING A THIRD BLOG

As some of you may know, I have begun designing a Tarot deck, The Taiga Tarot - very briefly put, taiga are illustrated tanka poems. I've been posting the designs, along with background on them and any revisions, to my other blog (Roswila's Tarot Gallery & Journal). However, the designs are being posted in and amongst all the other sorts of posts to that blog and I wanted to share them in a more readily accessible fashion. So I've begun a third blog, Roswila's Taiga Tarot to which I've transferred all Taiga Tarot posts from Roswila's Tarot Gallery & Journal, and where I will only post Taiga Tarot designs.
