THE SEARCH FOR EMBRACE (photo) & WHY (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

WHY

why this extremely attractive
former soap star -- now famous
for a gory criminal show --
and his unclear intentions?

yet here we stand embracing,
both of us barely breathing, nothing
said by either of us, and nothing
needing saying, at least that's
the intuitive prompting I get
since I have a slew of questions
I'd ask if I weren't now afraid
to break whatever this spell is

but I can't leave well enough alone
and whisper "This is nice..."
and to my relief, without moving
a fraction of an inch he responds
"Yes, isn't it..."

then I realize I'm very late for lunch
with a dear friend and step back
oh-so-reluctantly to explain

as I do so, a strong tangible pull
rises between us, coming
from us both: our connection
concretized as if we were super magnets

the tug trails along with me as I hurry
to meet my friend, and wonder
how far I need go before it breaks
