DAWN CHORUS (photo) & "traffic sounds whirring ..." (non-dream senryu? haiku?) by Roswila
traffic sounds whirring
wake me and joint pain sings out
it must be near dawn
[haiku, or maybe a more appropriate term would be senryu, written 4-13-19. Here's a simple explanation from the internet, of the difference between these two forms: Senryu is a Japanese form of short poetry similar to haiku in construction: three lines with 17 or fewer [weighted or stressed syllables] in total. However, senryu tend to be about human foibles while haiku tend to be about nature, and senryu are often cynical or darkly humorous while haiku are more serious. IMHO, the most operative word in that quote is “tend.” Sometimes it’s nigh on to impossible to distinguish a senryu from a haiku. As with the case in point. There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
