“is this tit for tat?”
my dream mind wonders sadly,
as he silently
turns every last inch of his big
body completely away from me

just because I may
have fooled myself into believing
my layered story
as to why I’ve not been around
doesn’t mean he cares to buy it

sometimes a mind like
his that’s apt to enhance very little,
tending to take life neat,
will see the most unwelcome
or denied truths more quickly
