STRUGGLING THROUGH (photomorph) & MAYBE LIKE PINOCCHIO (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

MAYBE LIKE PINOCCHIO

first, for all those many months,
it was the male of the species
showing up, mostly more like
haunting her

and now it's the female -- woman
after woman out of her past and
some even known to her in
the present day

each woman -- and often more
than one -- hovers in her dreams,
a fluttering dancer, daring
a later, waking recall

the only thing abundantly clear?
her dream self likes these mostly
frenemies, wants them around,
up close and personal

and so waking self sets her itchy,
long nose to the grindstone of these
memories -- both dream and actual --
mixed and hardened by sunrise
into a closed circle

hoping against hope
there's wisdom to be gained

maybe like Pinocchio she's been lying

[free verse poem inspired by several days dreams, from 6-4-18 through 6-7-18. Photomorph "Struggling Through" (1-30-17 015v4a) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

* * * *
until next time, keep dreaming,
