FACING DOWN THE NIGHT (photomorph) & THE EXCUSE (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
THE EXCUSE
she gets right up in my face,
this, always and ever, pain-
in-my-butt young
woman ...
"You weren't there!" she yelps,
for all the world like a spoiled
puppy seeking a teat on its
mother's litter crowded
belly ...
thing is, I was there, as I'm often
"there," but it's as if -- no matter
should I try not to -- I stand right
in her blind spot whenever something
particularly important to her is
happening ...
truth be told, I know she
doesn't even want me to be
"there," wherever the "there"
of that moment happens to be,
so why do I keep
trying ...
and even more to the point,
why does she bother to get
up in my face about something
I know at a deep intuitive level,
she doesn't truly
want ...
ah, I get it, what she really wants
is to be overtly expressive about
her on-going anger at me: the one
who on occasion chooses not to be
her ersatz mother: not to supply
the teat and the closeness, and
worst, not to ever, ever not be
"there," ...
and so her blind spot steps up
and gives her the excuse
[free verse poem on a dream of 5-27-18. )] Blush! I think this young woman is really an aspect of myself I'd thought I'd outgrown. Ah well, better to know about "her" than not. Maybe we never fully leave behind some difficult aspects/habits. Photomorph "Facing Down the Night" (10-5-09 7296v2d) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
