THE HUNT

what's with this egg? (an echo
of yesterday's dream poem image?)

and the burst of bright teal
on its side that sets me off on
a midnight search for where
it was laid, to find more of this
unique beauty

through a moonlit parking lot
surrounded by tall city buildings
that seem to lean in
and watch my wandering

like parents hovering at the edges
as their daughter toddles
through garden shadows hoping
to find more Easter eggs
to drop in her swaying,
already weighty basket

(always, always, this hunt for more)
