THE GATHERING GLOOM (photomorph) & LOSERS (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

why always having
to give it up, let it go,
and the worst of all,
return it as it was only
a short-term loan to begin with

now, I don't want you
to think I believe I'm alone
in this on-going
give-back, I do see the startled
faces of newly bereft folk

even as I already grieve the golden tome
just lifted from my reluctantly open hands

one might think we'd ease each other's pain with compassion
but mostly we simply go on, denying we're losers

[tanka and two-liners on a dream of 8-4-15. I hope it's clear that I'm looking at the put down idiomatic meaning of "loser," from a different angle. Photomorph "The Gathering Gloom" (6-24-15 008v2b) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
