DEFINING THE SHAPES (photomorph) & THE STYLE DU JOUR (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
THE STYLE DU JOUR
everybody’s got Joan Crawford* eyebrows these days
they march archly away from each other across
the hillock of a forehead, then pause pointedly
before a dramatic turn as if to say: this performance
will certainly earn an academy award
[free verse poem on a dream of 10-22-19. I’m not surprised I had a dream about over-manicured eyebrows. I’ve been finding today’s trend for dark, designer brows rather annoying and distracting. (Women’s tend to be the biggest offenders, IMHO.) I hasten to admit, some of that annoyance may come from envy. My own brows are getting thinner and thinner, and have been white (along with my lashes) for years. In some photos I look brow-less (and eyelash-less). *In case you're too young to have seen a Crawford movie, click here to see some pix of her and her famous eyebrows. There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
