UNDER A HARVEST MOON (photomorph) & "harvest moon we bait ..." (old dream monoku) by Roswila

harvest moon we bait our trap with a fake King

[haiku dreamed/written September 2006 and made into a monoku (one-line haiku) for this posting (which requires more thoughtful work than just stringing out the original three lines as one line). The Harvest (a/k/a Hunter’s) Full Moon is now in its third day and probably beginning to noticeably wane. This ‘ku was found in those ancient, hand written dream haiku notebooks of mine that I’ve been reviewing and posting from here recently. I haven’t ever fully “gotten” this little dream, even back when I dreamed it in 2006. But it’s always called up a vague scene in my mind of an ancient Pagan rite of some sort. You know, the sacrificed King and all. Hm, there’s a double deceit going on in this one liner. A rather big fake out, ey? But who’s being faked out? The dreamer, or is the dreamer doing the faking out? I recall that that trap was in a forest, BTW. And just now I seem to recall that in the mythology an occasional King had someone take his place as the sacrifice. Photomorph “Under A Harvest Moon” (archival old pix-10 2764v2a[4]) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
