a sheriff killed in yet another
mass shooting rolls
silently down the thruway
(but who grieves for the shooter)


[non-dream tanka written 11-8-18. On this blog is about the only place I can express concern for the shooter without generating a lot of "Who cares!?!" or "What about those who were killed and wounded!?!" As if one can't feel pain for both the victims and the shooter. Especially today's shooter: a Marine veteran. Who of us is so whole and healed that we might not shatter or blow apart under certain circumstances? That's not meant as justification for the horrific act, just an expression of compassion.
