SAMHAIN* 2017
(Celtic/Pagan New Year's)

you might well wonder
why I'm choosing to acknowledge
a New Year's advent
now, when I could put off doing so
'til January, two months away

put off directly
facing the implications
of the calendar
and maybe not even face them
in January (I've done that before)

but even that famous river of "De Nial"
bends and flows and twists through time

and, hell, I'd rather get my agony
over with sooner than later

yank off all these strangling bandages
wound around the wounds of disillusion

life has always been for me more like
a dance with the Devil anyway
