DANGEROUS SKIES (photomorph) & IN THE AIR (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
IN THE AIR
alien looking air craft of all sizes glint sharply
as they roar through the fall sunlight, while
drones swoop around and between them, some
attacking, some defending the flyers, as air-to-air
missiles add to the noxious mix, mostly missing
any target but for an occasional ear shattering
explosion, like that one just now that's knocked
a Rube Goldberg-esque flying machine out
of the sky as if with a single finger flick;
damn it all! is it another war? will this air
engagement inevitably come down to earth
and flatten everything before it's even known
who or what the combatants are, and why
they're fighting? as they weave and roll in
the cool blue sky, shoot and more often miss,
one could even see it as a video game and
with as little consequence were it not for
the implications of this pile of mangled metal
that once flew skillfully, brought down to earth
by a missile, its wreckage smashing a small
rural town, the inextricable mix of remains
still steaming like a sacrifice in an
ancient change of season ritual

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
