COSMIC HONEYCOMB (photomorph) & SORTING BEES: a dream about drones (free verse dream poem) by Roswila

SORTING BEES
(a dream about drones)

"all sorts of bees to be sorted ..."
hm, rhymes and puns abound
in that one short opening line,
while the single word "bees"
itself is abuzz with meaning
and my associations to it;
and just like this opening to
a poem, the dream hung me
up from the beginning: why
am I sorting these bees into
piles, and then further into
groups of clear glass jars? see
how they're lined up against
the baseboard of the wall along
one side of the room in a growing
stash of jars filled with agitator
bees, the less likable but also
the stronger and larger workers
of the Queendom (get it? bees
have Queens, not Kings), while
on the other side of the room,
jars of the gentler natured,
small and round bodied bees
(but have no doubt, they too,
can sting) begin to abound;
ooops! that jar's got a mix
of the two types in it, I'd better
get busy (another echo of a bee
association) re-sorting that
chock full jar of wriggling
worker bees; even if I find
the rather larva-like aspect of
the pale, fleshy agitator bees
a bit repulsive, I'll manage
to complete all this sorting,
but I still don't understand
why I'm being such a
compulsive Capricorn and
organizing all these drones
of mine to begin with:
why can't I just leave them
to buzz around in the back
of my bonnet (so to speak),
as they will?

[free verse poem on a dream of 11-4-18. Given the dream/poem posted yesterday, I'm pretty certain all these bees represent the war of thoughts in my mind these days. (Drones -- the weapon -- were a large part of that previous dream.) In a way, though, my dreaming mind's reduction of the war drones to a more manageable type is encouraging. Maybe that's the point: I need to get perspective. I hasten to add that outing/organizing the bees/thoughts is also important (even if -- as I do in the dream's end -- I wish I could just leave them unconscious), as well as making distinctions between them. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
