DANCING ON LIGHT (photomorph) & POST HOC VALENTINE (revised) (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila
A POST HOC VALENTINE
(revised)
do not offer me all of you
for I will not pretend
to give you all of me
better we flee this fantasy
of fixed selves
stuffed with parroted ideals
and wrapped up tightly
in pretty words
and sentimental tears
let's not waste
what time we may have
to stand in each other's light
driving nails
through the hem
of the fleeting
[non-dream free verse poem written 2-18-14, and revised/posted today 9-9-18. Had no viable dream recall last night and nothing else anywhere near ready for posting, so I went wandering through my old non-dream poems. This title jumped out at me, and as I read this old poem, revisions also jumped out. Nothing major, in the sense that what I'm trying to say in the poem hasn't been modified. But the words I've used to attempt to get it across, have been changed in several places. For some reason, I did not want to nor did I mess with the line breaks, i.e., the ultimate visual shape of the poem. Photomorph "Dancing on Light" (8-17-18 008v5a) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
