WEAVING THE CANOPY (photo) & THIS COMPELLING NEED (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila
THIS COMPELLING NEED
why this compelling need to share with even one
other human being? why isn't it enough to simply
hold the beauty of these realizations and pains,
discoveries and losses, births and death, right here,
within their home inside one's self, their nature
being that of perception and not some immutable
and measurable objective reality, as we cling to
believing they are? I leave these questions alone
for now (they will return like haunting aromas,
they always do, witness this attempt at a poem),
and remain on my all too objective butt in this hard
plastic chair under the advance of the setting sun,
yearning to be heard out empathically -- some
other's soft but sure presence sparked by recalled
and similar perceptions of their own -- as we
extrude a spider silk thread of connection
between us:
a shimmering ghost,
an ephemeral liana,
flickering in the passing
of sunlight and shadow

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
