DREAMKU: Response to One Deep Breath Prompt of 8/28/07
eclipsed moon
the palm sized dog
touches my heart
The above is a dreamku, based on an old dream I had under a lunar eclipse. The dream was brought to mind by One Deep Breath's prompt this week of "tiny pretty things," combined with the fact we had a lunar eclipse last night. (Posted also to Summer Haiku 2007.)

Love the collage, Patricia and the flow of our dreamku.
Love the card and your haiku is wonderful. The eclipse last night was surely special...
Hi marcia & tumblewords:
We didn't get as good a show of the eclipse here in the northeast. But I "felt" it, knowing that astrologically speaking, a lunar eclipse starts something important, that the subsequent solar eclipse weeks/months later ends.
And that card? Been my favorite in that deck for 20 years. :-) Glad you both like it, too.
I love this! Eclipses are powerful, and it's cool how you brought together that image with the unexpected but delightful image of a palm sized dog!
:)
I love the collage too! Your dreamku is perfect. I love lunar eclipse, I watched one all the way through a couple of years ago. Wonderful.
Your pictures and poetry always take me to another place and time- you are fabulous!
Thanks, Regina Clare.... you do my heart good. All of One Deep Breath's folk are good for the heart and soul.
Hi Clare,
Yes, it's an interesting juxtaposition, isn't it? As I thought on it after writing it I thought there's something bereft about an "eclipsed moon," and the dog then became even more of a dream gift. :-)
Hi c.g.p. (:-D),
Haven't seen a lunar eclipse in a long time. But many years ago I saw it at the fading phase of the eclipse. It looked as if it were leaning against the pointed roof of my building (I was out on my terrace looking back up at it). Almost like that broken moon might roll right off!
Nice dream ku, thanks for sharing your experience!
Your haiku is as surrealistic as a Dali painting.
I've thought about this 'palm sized dog' since I read it at Summer Haiku - I dont know whether to be charmed or a little alarmed.
Hi Jem,
Yes, Alan at Summer Haiku also found the dog scary. I'm still not fully sure why. Could you go further with what is scary for you in the image?
As I responded to him, after I'd written the dreamku I noted and liked the contrast between the implied sadness of an eclipsed moon and the sweet dog right there in the palm of my hand. :-)
Hi spacedlaw,
My goodness, how interesting, some of the responses to this dreamku (it's also posted elsewhere). You say surreal and others have said a little scary. Funny thing is, I think of it as somewhat ordinary and unremarkable! After I wrote it, I kept seeing all those "tea cup" dogs celebrities have been buying like toys recently. LOL!
Thanks for visiting. :-)
Interesting. Small dogs do have a way of oohing a person, don't they.
