ALL DREAMKU POSTED IN JUNE OF 2007

The Six of Pentacles in The Tarot of the Cat People

This month’s dreamku are an even more mixed bunch than usual. But that, in a way, makes sense. My life isn’t very cohesive right now, not with making plans again to move out of my apartment (maybe even out of state), for instance, or with beginning to lose weight (yet again). Not to mention that my three closest friend’s lives are also in various states of upheaval or intense change. Though I must say, overall I’m left with a positive feeling about this month of dreams. The first of my favorite dreamku in this month’s motley crew is:

arresting
she finally spears
the goat in the stream

This dream “outed” how I’d been undermining myself (I’m a Capricorn = goat). The spearing brought the goat to the surface of the stream where I could see it clearly. I learned about this aspect of myself some time ago, but had “gone unconscious” about it until this dream.

The second is this one:

“Stay here,” she urges
“stay until I get back”
sunlit living room

I can’t even clearly say why I like this one. It was no one I know in the dream, nor did I associate the woman to anyone I know on remembering the dream. The dream carried a feeling of sadness and comfort at the same time. One thought I had was that some soul who’s not incarnate now was asking me to stay in this life until she returns....and I don’t know if I even believe in reincarnation (though I’m open to the idea). Psychologically speaking, I had thought some aspect of myself that is either relegated to shadow or unconscious may be letting me know she’s going to resurface. At any rate, I like the feeling I get when I read this dreamku.

And I hope you like any feelings you get from reading the dreamku below. (If you want to learn more about writing dreamku, you might read my three-part A DREAMKU PRIMER: Writing Haiku-Like Poems About Your Night Dreams. Links to each part are just below the DAILY DREAMKU at the top of this blog.)

[This dream image reminds me of one of the myths of the origin of The Tarot's 22 Major Arcana cards. As I recall it, the images lined both sides of a long hallway in an ancient mysteries temple, down which an initiate would walk, meditating on each image in turn.]

Well, I beat you to the punch this month. I haven't received a message announcing the month's work, but have visited this morning already. I also read all three of the 3-part series on ‘How to Write Dreamku’. I will reread. It was interesting and informative. This morning I wrote:

I love you, Richard
a drunk comedian sings
of our president

In my dream our president’s name was Richard, not George. I don’t know if it was about Richard Nixon, or someone to come, or no one at all. Maybe just a reflection about how I feel about this country sometimes.

Keep up the good work,

Ok, here are my favorites. Maybe I should have put them in several different comment boxes, but this seemed easier.

we pull and pull the
narrow black strip from my mouth

This one of the group is so much like a reoccurring dream that I have. It was eerie. The rest in the body of work I didn't relate to. But ... Wow! this one could have been my own.

“Stay here,” she urges
“stay until I get back”
sunlit living room

I really love this one. The suggestion to me is enjoy where you are -- maybe alone -- you will have welcome company soon.

the tables turn
he escapes from
the formal dinner

The play on words in this one made me laugh.

dispersed by power
radiating from my palms
demonic twister

This one I liked a lot too. Not sure why, except I can relate. I have dreams that I have uncontrollable power sometimes.

worn white shoes sit
in place of the old black ones
dusty corner

This image is rather sad to me. I don’t know why. It makes me tired and lonely and missing my black shoes. Until I look down and realize that I am wearing them. Ha!

no way back to
the lower level workshop
dead-end stairs

Seems like a mental block to your subconscious to me, one that leaves you feeling lost and kind of scared. Anyway, it made me feel lost and spooked -- like those ‘can’t find my way back home’ dreams.

strung along
we fill each sink hole
as it caves in

This one is the story of my life and it reminds me of ‘Bones’ in reverse, which will be published in the next Skyline printed magazine, by the way. I guess that I will have to buy a copy. Victoria has stopped giving free ones to major contributors and even to staff. She is regrouping. She has lost money for too long. I understand.

LOL, Charline, such fun to have you beat me to the punch.

I like your dreamku. I, too, had a bunch of associations to Richard. It makes for an intriguing read. I also like the construction of your dreamku; it moves so easily along ....

Thanks for reading all three parts of my Dreamku Primer. Hope you'll find it inspiring. :-)

Wow, Charline, I really appreciate your in-depth response to my month of dreamku.

Isn't it intriguing how some dreams/dreamku by others could be our own? I think that's more than accident; I believe it (at least in part) reflects our collective connectedness at a deep level. Then, of course, there's telepathy (which I tend to have a little bit of in dreams) and common cultural experiences, etc., etc. But it's still sometimes astounding.

I like your comment about the "stay here" dreamku. It would be lovely to have welcome company. :-)

Yes! that play on words in "the tables turn" one... what was so much fun is in the dream the turning tables were literal ... they turned upside down!

What was nice about dispersing that twister is this time I was very aware and in control of the power in my ability to "hand"le the situation. Fairly new things in my dreams.

The white/black shoes one was a strange one, that I did not get much of a grip on by writing the dreamku. But reading it now I think it may be saying (at least in part) that thinking in either black or white (extremes, absolutes) is sad and getting old fast for me. :-)

Ah, interesting your take on the "lower level workshop" one. I actually had a positive experience of that in the dream. I was not being allowed to go back; I had to go on ahead. The only anxiety was I couldn't know what the next level was. LOL!

Yes, I can see how the sink hole one puts you in mind of your bones story, for sure.

BTW, sorry to hear of Skyline mag's financial issues. But it is massively expense to produce anything, much less mags like she does. Then again, those who work for the mag and contributors, if not paid, do deserve copies. Tough issue. I certainly wouldn't want to see her mags go under ... guess we have to wait and see.

Thanks for taking time to respond so thoughtfully.
