ALL DAILY DREAMKU POSTED IN NOVEMBER 2006

["Eskimo" Nebula]

The theme (if any) for this month seems to be light, or rather the lack thereof, mostly metaphorically. Though the last haiku does seem to indicate some hope is creeping back in.

November 1, 2006

autumn evening
we take the longest route
toward the beach

November 2, 2006

lost in the stacks
we got further
than I thought

November 3, 2006

she feels her way
along in the dark
the call of home

November 4, 2006

he touches my throat
then pulls back
silence

November 5, 2006

a terrace of
dried grape vines
your bright smile

November 6, 2006

trail of eggs
the fairy mates
on a tree branch

November 7, 2006

the path spirals
to the garden’s center
a first step

November 8, 2006

a load of lumber
tumbles off the train
moonlit yard

November 9, 2006

midnight class
we wind down the path
to the beach

November 10, 2006

she flies backward
so they can’t see up her dress
above it all

November 11, 2006

the sandals fit
the soles are thin
unbearable

November 12, 2006

sanctuary
ghosts of courting teens
crowd the church

November 13, 2006

envy
the clairvoyant race
feels no emotions

November 14, 2006

the baby marches
in the veteran’s parade
orphaned again

November 15, 2006

missed boat
she vacations at home
alone

November 16, 2006

open wounds
it doesn’t matter which
child is mine

November 17, 2006

I guide him
on his back, feet first
no strings

November 18, 2006

yelling at one friend
jealous of another –
hot sheets

November 19, 2006

escape by boat
across the lake
trees in silhouette

November 20, 2006

river overlook
the sad boy asks
about the Ban Sidhe

November 21, 2006

cracked sidewalk
home stands to the left
of the large complex

November 22, 2006

midnight ride
taped to the steering wheel
a strange address

November 23, 2006

deception
they gang up on me
with sweet desserts

November 24, 2006

feet up and dusty:
wood furniture tossed during
the revolution

November 25, 2006

to believe her
he’ll have to lie to himself
fork in the road

November 26, 2006

winter solstice
to conserve we vacate
half of the town

November 27, 2006

my hand aches
from holding on:
it opens

November 28, 2006

new store
too big a step up
to take

November 29, 2006

he mashes me
as I get in the cab
trapped again

November 30, 2006

mesa noontide
two Indians lean slowly
in to a kiss

[This dream is especially striking to me due to all the light in it. I've been having some S.A.D. (Seasonal Affect Disorder) this fall and just in the last couple of days started using full spectrum light bulbs. :-D]

These dream haiku were rarely written or dreamed on the dates on which they were posted; many are even years old. I simply go through my handwritten dream haiku notebooks for one that grabs my attention and that’s the one that gets posted on that day. Of course, whatever is going on in my life clearly influences my choice of dream haiku for any particular day’s post. So in that respect these daily dream haiku do act like an on-going dream diary.

If you would like a decent overview of what the haiku form is about click here for “The Isn’ts of Haiku,” or see the sidebar.

‘til next time, keep dreaming,
