CAULDRON OF THE SUN (photomorph) & TO BOIL, OR NOT TO BOIL ... (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
TO BOIL, OR NOT TO BOIL …
ah! now I understand why they keep
ordering me (in a saccharine sort of way)
not to get my blood in a boil, as if it were
the dregs of soup in an ancient cauldron
it’s not to be helpful to me, no, no, but
to them! you see, I slipped up this time:
too exhausted after cleaning up after an
unusually sloppy day on all their parts
(which, of course, they blamed on me)
I let my natural tendency to boil
roil away
and lo and behold, everything they’d
added to the brew -- fueled by their habits
and spiced with malice of forethought --
turned to steam … and then? just floated
away, nice as you please! trailing their
pile up of poisons behind like manic
mare’s tails, only a gleaming
emptiness remaining
just let them try to cook up something now:
new, old, alien, human, sweet, sour (you
get my drift), it "makes no never mind..."
I’m ready for them!
[free verse poem on a dream of 1-8-20. This Cinderella-like dream was clearly influenced by a wonderful book of poems and short stories I’m reading: SNOW WHITE LEARNS WITCHCRAFT. One might call it “fractured fairytales.” Only in every case I’ve read so far, what the author -- Theodora Goss -- has done (IMHO) is to take them toward further wholeness, integrating something missing. To be truthful, the book is also giving me an itchy case of writer's envy. (I'm fairly sure there will be a fairy tale later on in her book that deals with envy. 😊) Photomorph “Cauldron of the Sun” (7-11-09 3700ev2[3]) by Roswila]
There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
