BRIDGE OF TEARS (photomorph) & SOME CHASMS (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

SOME CHASMS

some chasms can't be crossed
much less mended
the rips in the body of the earth
frozen impassably wide and deep
uncounted years ago

some chasms can't be crossed
much less mended
no matter our love songs
slipping back and forth across them
as if they could knit nets
from the cold night air

some chasms can't be crossed
much less mended
and yet we continue to sing
to each other from across the abysses
seeking the right keys
as if magic could build bridges
and the wind's long fingers
couldn't tear their fragile arches apart

some chasms can't be crossed
much less mended
but the heat of our sweet yearnings
compels us to keep trying

[non-dream free verse poem written 5-5-17. Photomorph "Bridge of Tears" (5-10-13 12738ev2) by Roswila; best viewed in a larger version, so try clicking on the image if you're interested]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

* * * *
until next time, keep dreaming,
