BUGS IN THE SYSTEM (photomorph) & GETTING THE BUGS OUT (dream narrative) by Roswila

GETTING THE BUGS OUT

she and I tire of sweeping up roaches;
I don't even know if they're still alive
or dead, I just want to end their
intrusion and toss them into the garbage;
but it's a bigger chore than I'd imagined,
as their little bodies are very light
and the slightest stirring of the air
near them sends them skittering away,
beyond the broom's reach; so she and I
take a brief beak, after which, in spite
of my friend's having given up, I promptly
renew my own efforts and sweep furiously
away, especially at the piles of dust along
the baseboards; I'd swear the buggers
multiplied exponentially while I was sitting
on my butt, as the number of dark and brittle
little bodies mixed in with the dust bunnies
is unbelievable; I sigh heavily and my friend
announces from the couch she lounges on
that she finds my persistence admirable:
I'd much prefer her help

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
