VAMPIRE JEWEL

it’s almost as rare
for a vampire to father children
as it is for one to
care if his progeny live and this
one makes sure his babes survive

he won’t let them wake
and open their wide eyes while
he escapes hunters,
for only in the pupil’s dark skies
can a Vampire Jewel be spotted
