CHRISTMAS GIFT (photo) & [Untitled] (dream tanka) by Roswila

[untitled]

the Santa and I
walk in a pair of footprints
that suddenly end
we go on in the curving
snowy path and make our own

[an old dream tanka on a dream from January 2009. Wish I would find that I’m making new footprints. Seems it always turns out to be the “same old, same old” ones I’m following along in, going no place new. I’ll blame this Scrooge mood on the rainy weather. Ah, that’s my wish from Santa this year: that I walk down new paths. Of course, I’d better be careful what I wish for. As the expression goes, I just might get it. Photo “Christmas Gift” by Roswila]

BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:
