ON THE TABLE (photo) & [untitled] (dream tanka) by Roswila

(untitled)

I repair the scratched
coffee table with cheap stain
to put off the end
it doesn't change anything
and I only feel guilty

[almost four year old dream tanka written/dreamed in early January 2009. Very little dream recall last night and what little there was wasn’t very interesting. Mostly about accounting, i.e. keeping financial records, and what the proper column headings were for each category. Yeah, I “keep too many accounts” when it comes to my life, trying to balance things out. I’d probably do better to let go. Just like this dream coffee table; give up the effort to maintain what's past usefulness or plain not working. Photo “On the Table” by Roswila]

BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO DREAMKU (& PHOTOS): The dream-based poems posted on this blog -- dreamku, tanka, two-liners, and monoku -- are offered in the spirit of collaboration. I have done my part. Now it’s your turn to jump in and see what comes up for you. I.e., there is no right or wrong way to understand or interpret any of these dream offerings. Even my own understandings of them change over time. And it gives me joy when a reader sees something in any of them that I have not.

For more in-depth exploration:
