"untitled" (photo) & THE HITCH (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

THE HITCH

preaching intently
he stands in the rubble
city under attack

she listens as
behind him her home is hit
a rain of bullets

her silent flinching a brief hitch in his sermon

[dreamku pair capped by a monoku on a dream, written and posted in November of 2009, re-posted 4-20-19. I'd started on what I figured would be a lengthy search to find something to re-post today as I’ve been coming up dry on dreams again. (Not unusual for days around a full moon, actually.) But was surprised when I stumbled on this really old one after going through only a few posts. It all too aptly echoes my current basic feelings about my life. That painful and impossible gap between the people one is closest to and one’s self. And (if I may wax self-pitying) others lack of awareness or weird interpretation of, what is really going on, much less what may need to be done. No matter how obvious it all may be to one's self, even should one take yet one more bound to fail shot and speak out. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
