DROWNED (photomorph) & THE LECTURE (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

THE LECTURE

what did I forget?
a lively dream I was too lazy to grab pen
and pad to write down?
yeah, I think so and the only dream I can
recall now lectures me, on and on:

“Watch out even for thrift stores, Patty,” said in a tone
my stepmother used on me when trying to curb me,

“each individual price may be incredibly low, but walk
out having bought it all and the cost is way too high”

[a tanka capped by a pair of two-liners on a dream of 4/27/19. This dream applies at a few different levels. Most obviously carrying on with the theme of being very careful with how I spend money. (See previous post here.) But in an equally important way it applies to what I buy about people. And more so, what I buy that they tell me -- both literally and by their behavior toward me -- about myself. Photomorph “Drowned” 7-5-09 (3326v8c[3]) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

* * * *
until next time, keep dreaming,
