HAPPY (CHINESE) NEW YEAR

the year of the pig:
said to be about swiftness
and all things fresh
yikes! what would truly be new
is a year of rest and peace


[tanka written 2-4-19. No great shakes, but it’s what hit me when I read about this New Year of the Pig: “We can expect a fast-moving year, with a focus on family, friends, travels, gatherings and new connections. The year will be very active in all areas of life, full of opportunities and openings of new horizons. The energy supports exploring, expanding and developing. New technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence, self-driving vehicles, augmented reality etc. will be on a rise, changing the way we live as individuals as well as a society …” (quote from Dragon-Gate.com newsletter) Hey, I’m an old lady. And all that's being suggested for this coming year -- especially after the super-hyper year I just had -- sounds like a bit too much to me. But I still wish everyone A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
