TOP HEAVY (photomorph) & MOUNTAIN ROADS (dream inspired, free verse poem) by Roswila
MOUNTAIN ROADS
so very familiar, this twisting, two-lane road
down the seaside mountain … ah, yes, that’s
what it was: a recurring dream in my long ago
youth, one in which I was always clambering
up a massive mountain to its top most edge
and wide-angle view, then stumbling back
down, through hot dust and over rocks, skirting
the roughest spots when possible, the spectacular
view below filled with buildings that appear
to grow larger, even as these constructed gaps
in the mountain greenery seem less obtrusive
for all their increasing nearness; “It’s a matter
of perspective…” one might be tempted to assert
and that’s patently true, but what of all that lies
unacknowledged outside one’s focus on oh-so-
carefully placed footsteps and anxious balance
at precipitous edges; if they could, would
the mountains ever waste even a moment
of their slow time fearing the loss
of their ways along the paths
of their transformations

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
