HER DNA THROWS A PARTY (photomorph) & GOOF BALL (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

GOOF BALL

that's it!
it's as if she's taken a
"goof ball"! remember that
term from the hippie days?
from what her aging memory
tells her of others' goof ball
trips, today's ubiquitous
opioids have nothing on
those barbiturates

she never
did try one, even in that
goof ball pill form, she thinks,
but this must be what they were
like, as she sits and feels a flood
of visceral joy in response to
a favorite old rock song
by The Doors,

even as she
sobs herself listless over
all that's lost, all that's gone,
that she never even made an
effort to experience or to
have ... or, worse
yet, to give

[non-dream free verse poem written 3-21-18. Not really happy with this poem (neither with its point of view nor with how it's written) but it's all I've got ready today. I might write something on a dream fragment I recall from last night, but don't know if I have the energy or will right now. Talk about listless! PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
