COSMIC WIND (photomorph) & HOW CAN (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

HOW CAN

how can not having you be better
than not having, not having you?

how can a hair shirt be more
like the caressing of fingers?

how can suffering that peppers
like pellet shots be so sweet?

how can being scared to death
be welcome and warm the heart?

spin my brain a bit more, I say,
it's not convoluted enough already

though I've been wrung all out of shape,
turn me inside out and upside down
again, and yet again

I won't complain,
even though my bones burn
as they stretch to the limits of yearning
and my vaunted independence is gone,
blown away as readily as dust
on the constant breath
of this sweet yearning

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

* * * *
until next time, keep dreaming,
