DEVILTRY (photomorph) & ALL THEIR HORRORS (non-dream free verse poem) by Roswila

ALL THEIR HORRORS

another day
another wrestling match
me against all my demons
hell, what wrestling?
they've attached themselves to me
like leeches, nay, more like huge
barnacles that weigh me down
and put other people off
with their sharp edges

saying that this has gotten tiresome
doesn't even begin to express
my exhaustion, like today,
when I feel myself willfully
stepping up to that razor
sharp edge I could choose to avail
myself of and the demons briefly
back off, taking a sudden
collective breath

I'd like to say they shudder in fear
at the sight of what I'm contemplating,
for after all, if I go over that dark
edge their grips would be broken,
they'd be peeled off to rattle around
seeking another patsy to bedevil,
but they save all their horrors for me

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
