BRANCHING OUT (photomorph) & THE LEAFLESS TREE (mixed format dream poem) by Roswila

THE LEAFLESS TREE

a co-worker and I
stand before our boss's desk:
has she called us to
her office to give us more work
or to ream us out for something

neither, it appears,
for she talks proudly of the leafless tree
on the wide window sill
behind her, all glossy light wood,
spare branches gracefully spreading,

her own large bare arms echoing the tree's
smoothness, color, and radiant strength

she swivels in her executive chair to show us
how she can bend the tree to her will,

swiftly pushing it down to the shadowy left,
but even as she rotates back to us it springs up,

filling the window again as if claiming
its right to stand tall in the light

[two tanka and four two-liners on a dream of 9-3-16. This is one of those multi-level dreams (as many are). And as I was writing about it, it made me cry, in both a happy and a sad way. Photomorph "Branching Out" (4-5-09 18374c) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers, as the above is), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

* * * *
until next time, keep dreaming,
