THE MESSAGE

why's it always my fault
when I don't get a message?
are you even sure your office sent it?
did the P.O. deliver it elsewhere or lose it?
did someone steal it just for the fun
of f...ing with someone's head?

and those're only the first
of many disconnects I'm sure
I could imagine in this world
tangled in layer after layer
of communications
flying in cross currents
like swarms of bees

so, gimme me a break, already!

and now you say I'm to be summarily
deported to Australia because I didn't
respond to your message?
other than a pain in the butt to pack at once
how's that a negative consequence?

I've always wanted to go there
