ON THE WAY TO OMPHALOS (photo) & "taking a rest stop..." (non-dream haiku) by Roswila

[non-dream haiku written 1-29-20. “Omphalos” – navel, or center of the world. The accompanying photo of mine was taken exactly where I was sitting yesterday when I wrote this haiku. (That “dimple” in the wall has long since been filled with a small lamp. :-D) In a way, writing and then posting this haiku is a wee bit of a rest stop. The journey’s seemed ever more arduous recently and simply to sit there, in the sunlight, on the balcony, was a deep pleasure. Then just to search for this photo – which is six years old and deep in my image files – was, believe it or not, restful. Especially compared to the endless “stuff” I’ve been going through for some time now. And the piles of work (both literally and figuratively speaking) I have yet to do. PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant or contrasting aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
