AUTUMN ATTEMPTS A BRONZING (photo) & ALWAYS, ALWAYS ... (on a dream) by Roswila

ALWAYS, ALWAYS …

always, always having to choose!
she read somewhere that we have
too many choices available to us
in our society and that at an
unconscious level this only adds
to our anxiety – no kidding! she’s
known this since she was a child, her
go-to response when overwhelmed
by choices? “I can’t!” and how that
irritated her father, whose go-to
response was “Can’t never got
anything done…” did it not occur
to him that getting nothing done
is a response? anyway, here she
is faced with a series of choices
hanging on a long wall; she walks
up to the first glancing briefly
at the rest down the line, and realizes
they are all live action, abstract photos,
glowing a pale bronze, the differences
between them subtle but to which she
has quick reactions; her first response
being the knowledge she’s to review
them all and keep weeding them out
until only two are left; she makes
surprisingly quick work of the task,
and even finds herself enjoying it;
when only the final two remain she
stands briefly looking from one softly
glowing image to the other; before she
can take another breath they merge in
front of her astonished eyes: all these
animated photos she sorted so carefully
through have really been just this
single one all along

[on a dream of 11-27-19. I googled for the symbolism of bronze as a color: “The bronze color … [has] a strength that can indicate stability, security, and sturdiness.” What hit me immediately was: my only choice given all the choices life presents us with, is to access the strength to maintain stability in the face of them. Tall order, that! Photo “Autumn Attempts a Bronzing” (9-11-13 032[2]) by Roswila]

PLEASE NOTE: in most browsers you can click on the above image for a larger version. Also, the photo accompanying a post is not necessarily meant to illustrate it, but to reflect some small, even slant or contrasting aspect of the verse, similar to Japanese haiga (illustrated haiku).

There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.

until next time, keep dreaming,
