COLOR WILL OUT (photo) & NO MATTER WHAT (free verse dream poem) by Roswila
NO MATTER WHAT
no matter what she does
the true, vibrant colors
keep returning
she cannot get the white dots
on a black background
to last longer than it takes her
to step back and view
her most recent effort
from a distance
while she's busy each time
assessing overall composition
and placement of the various size
white dots, and the dimensions
of the black square on which they
reside, she's flashed yet again
by warm colors and pastel colors
or neon brights or greens
or blues or a harvest of orange,
of course, harvest orange, it is
after all, Thanksgiving Day
tomorrow
yeah, maybe that's the clue:
she'd gone to sleep requesting
clear guidance through this
tremendously rough patch, this
nearly impossible row to hoe,
that she calls her life right now
and here it is: you cannot
look at things in black and white,
no matter how much simpler
you believe it should make things,
nor even how terribly hard
you keep trying
[free verse poem based on a dream of 11-21-18. As I turned over to go to sleep last night, I did actually ask my dreams for clear guidance. :-) Hope your THANKSGIVING's been healthy and happy. BTW, I've been watching over a defrosting freezer for my Thanksgiving activity. And let me tell you (blushing), it's a long tour of duty, so to speak! There are many other sorts of posts on this blog. I indicate which are about or influenced by dreams. Some non dream focused posts are book reviews, "regular" poems (some by other writers), scifaiku, writing exercises, Tarot haiku, photos, haiga, and so on. However, most of those are in much older posts. There's a listing by month going back to early 2006, at the end of the sidebar.
